I met with the friendly folk at GCF last week and Houston we are go!!!!!!!!!!!
Everything is starting to take shape……… I even joined the Gym last week (although have not been there yet) and hope to be in good shape come May next year! This time will be a lot harder as there is no road as such to follow. More like paths & riverbeds. The terrain will be a lot more taxing on my body so instead of me doing the walk to get fit I will have to get fit to do the walk!!
Initially I will walk up the skeleton coast and will enjoy the gentle ocean breeze.
Yeah right, the chances of the wind blowing gale force are pretty strong! Bwhaaaaaa!
Just after Cape cross and the seals I will turn inland to the Messum crater and then north through my beloved Ugab River (which still owes me a Jeep Grand Cherokee)
I will walk through the Dora !Nawas & Torra conservancies and then Thanks to IRDNC I will be entering the Palmwag conservancy at Wereldsend. Wilderness Safaris have been awesome and we will be working together as I walk through the conservancy. Hopefully making use of a shower or 2 at their awesome lodges! I will eventually walk through Puros and up the Hartman’s valley until I reach the Kunene. Just writing this is making me…………….
I started sending out mails this morning and already the response has been great. Lots of well wishes and even a few sponsors. First aid kit from Brandon Conroy, 2 x pair hiking boots from Ingrid Stadler and Satellite phone from Adventure camping hire!!!!!!!!
So I will keep you up to date with things especially in the new year as we get ready to Walk!!!!!!!!!!!
